A QR code is
not a trust signal.
QR codes can hide malicious links. A paid event, a trusted community, Cloudflare hosting and an MIT License do not make a QR inherently safe. This implementation is safer because its destination and expected behavior are explicit, the source is inspectable, the final QR is decoded by an automated test, and the recipient still reviews the contact before saving.
For Anthem’s card, verify that the camera preview says anthemhayek.com. Expect a contact preview. Stop if anything requests a login, password, wallet connection, seed phrase, payment, app installation or security-setting change.

This free release includes a reusable generator, example configuration, setup guide, automated QR and contact validation, and this public learning page. It shares the utility without exposing Anthem’s personal website repository.

The utility creates a standards-folded contact file and an iPhone-sized QR image on your own computer.
Host and test
Put the contact file at your HTTPS address, scan the final QR on iPhone and Android, then save the image to your phone.

A machine-readable manifest states the inputs, outputs, commands, invariants, rights and limitations. Every important file is also available as a stable raw URL, so an agent can inspect, adapt and test the kit without unpacking the website.
Commercial use is welcome under MIT. Paid client work, products, services, teaching, white-labeling and resale are allowed when the license notice is preserved. No Anthem, Doginal Dogs or DDNYC endorsement is implied.

The included test decodes the finished QR back to its exact URL, validates the portable contact fields and enforces the vCard line-length rules.
Mobile platforms still require the recipient to tap and confirm. Name, phone, email, organization, title and website are portable; photo and social-profile import varies by contact app and OS release.

- Are QR codes safe?
- Not automatically. A QR can encode a malicious destination. Verify the displayed domain, the expected action and the person or source presenting it. This kit publishes its exact destination, verification manifest, source and limitations so trust does not depend on the QR’s appearance.
- What is the DDNYC Contact Card Kit?
- It is a free open-source generator that creates a standards-folded vCard contact file and a portrait QR share card sized to the iPhone 14 aspect ratio.
- Does it work with iPhone and Android?
- The QR resolves to an HTTPS-hosted vCard, a broadly supported contact format. The recipient must tap the camera banner and confirm the save; phones do not permit silent address-book writes.
- Does the utility collect personal data?
- The kit has no account, first-party analytics, form submission or database, and generation happens locally. Like any hosted HTTPS request, the hosting provider, CDN and network providers may process ordinary technical metadata such as IP addresses, request URLs and timestamps under their own policies.
- May I change and redistribute the code?
- Yes. The MIT License permits use, modification, teaching and redistribution at no charge, subject to the included license notice.
